BLOG ENTRY 1 OF 3
A pilgramige a journey that is taken for spiritual purposes to strengthen the relationship between the person and God.
There are a
number of reasons why Christians go on a Pilgrimage. Some include:
- To see the saint or saints tomb – Most locations where a Pilgrimage takes place has a famous Saint buried there.
- Strengthening the relationship with God- Going on a Pilgrimage strengthens the relationship with the person and the chosen saint-
- People are inspired- Usually a saint is from a village where everyone knows everyone. When people see that someone like them has gone all the way to become a saint they are inspired and believe that god is working in the town and has a special presence.
- To renew their faith – People looking to find hope in their lives or good luck, go on a pilgrimage to a Marian site or sacred place to draw upon the good will of God.
Pilgrimages strengthen the
relationship with God and are a way to escape the chaotic world and come back
to God for inspiration and guidance. The site that the person may be visiting
is a calm place in a small village in the mountains or the humble churches in
the city.
